How exciting is this?? I get to pick my own theme for the illustration major project, and I’ve decided *ahem* professional tone: "..to produce a body of work inspired by the characters, settings and key scenes in the novel ‘Mister Monday’ by Garth Nix."
Body of work I think being several different pieces, some large scale, some small, most likely 2D, but there’s a possibility of chucking some 3D work in there, just for the shits and giggles. And I get to use alllll sorts of fun media such as ink crayon charcoal printmaking photography and acrylic paint, yes, those are the things I’m gonna use. Oh and a lil bit of photoshop and gouache. But it smells a bit. Anyhoo, I can’t be bothered to explain what Mister Monday is all about but lets just say I picked it because it’s got loads of really colourful and weird characters in it (being a bit of a fantasy fiction book thingy) and there’s loads of descriptions about characters and scenes and attention to detail! So I think I can create some pretty cool images based on that. And it’s a wicked book. Hehe
 
Maybe one of you should read it so at least someone will know what I’m on about/share my enthusiasm.
 
I got called a nerd today..again. I was not happy, people shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. Literally. I was called a nerd because I had two books on my desk called Mister Monday and Sir Thursday. I don’t understand, why is that nerdy? It’s just the name of a book. I don’t care really but you know. Annoyance.
Also why do people who read comics get called nerds? I know it’s one of those stereotypical labels, but now I come to think of it I can’t think of one good reason why people who read comics should be called nerds. They’re books with added pictures. Ok maybe it’s because middle aged men read them who don’t have girlfriends and sit up watching Babestation XXX on Friday night.
But I read comics and I’m not a middle aged man who watches Babestation XXX on Friday nights. I’m just me! And I like comics. They’re fun. I am a fun person. Yay.
 
OK this is turning into a novel. But I’m on a roll! Once I’ve done some 1st sketches for my project I’ll put a few up here if you like. Maybe. As long as you don’t laugh and call me a nerd. They’ll be good, I promise
