Science Of Sleep…
I’m pleased and somewhat surprised to report that Science Of Sleep has overtaken Pan’s Labyrinth in the ‘most strangest film I’ve seen this year’ stakes! We managed to catch the single showing last night at the crappy Odeon. Single! Only! One! And to add insult to injury there was a grand total of 6 people watching it.
People just don’t appreciate indie/foreign filmmaking. And how can they really, when the films themselves get such patchy releases? You can never actually watch them! Science of Sleep is a prime example. I’m sure if people knew about it, they’d much rather go and see it than a dirty great blockbusters. Blockbusters are good, but you know…Science Of Sleep was much more interesting and funny and above all really really wierd! And it swapped between French, Spanish and English throughout. Cool or what.
Another thought. Why don’t a lot of people like surreal films? Is it because they expect to be taken care of, as an audience, and let the film pick them up, look after them and give them a cuddle? Weird fucked up films basically just dump you in the creche for the day.
Hey but whilst you’re at the creche, couldn’t you get to know some new kids??
Hehe alright alright enough with the extended metaphors already.
If you notice a showing of Science Of Sleep go and see it then ok. Go on. Off you go.
Comments would be nice.
